Gmail นั้นนอกจากจะเป็นฟรีอีเมล์ที่ให้พื้นที่ความจุสำหรับเก็บอีเมล์จำนวนมหาศาล ประมาณ 2.7 กิกะไบต์แล้ว ยังมีความพิเศษตรงที่เราสามารถรับ-ส่งอีเมล์ได้สะดวกสบายผ่านโปรแกรมสำหรับรับ-ส่งอีเมล์ทั่วไป เช่น Microsoft Outlook โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องเข้าใช้งานผ่านเว็บไซค์ได้อีกด้วย

การตั้งค่าเพื่อให้สามารถรับส่งอีเมล์ผ่าน Microsoft Outlook สามารถทำได้โดย

1. ตั้งค่าใน Gmail อนุญาติให้ใช้ POP ได้
2. เปิด Microsoft Outlook ขึ้นมา
3. คลิกที่ Tools > E-mail Accounts ...

4. เลือก Add a new e-mail account แล้วคลิก Next

5. เลือก POP3 แล้วคลิก Next

6. ในหมวดนี้แบ่งเป็น
   User Information
   Your Name: พิมพ์ชื่อที่ท่านต้องการแสดงเมื่อผู้รับได้รับอีเมล์จากท่าน
   E-mail Address: พิมพ์ชื่ออีเมล์ของ Gmail ที่ท่านใช้
   
   Server Information
   Incoming mail server (POP3): พิมพ์ pop.gmail.com
   Outgoing mail server (SMTP): พิมพ์ smtp.gmail.com
   
   Logon Information
   User Name: พิมพ์ชื่ออีเมล์ของ Gmail ที่ท่านใช้ (เหมือนกับช่อง E-mail Address)
   Password: พิมพ์รหัสผ่าน และทำเครื่องหมายถูกหน้า Remember password เพื่อจะได้ไม่ต้องใส่รหัสผ่านทุกครั้ง

7. คลิก More Settings ... คลิกแท็บ Outgoing Server
8. ทำเครื่องหมายถูกหน้า My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication และเลือก Use same settings as my incoming mail server

9. คลิกแท็บ Advanced ทำเครื่องหมายถูกหน้า This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) ใต้ Incomming server (POP3) และ This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) ใต้ Outgoing server (SMTP) และพิมพ์เลข 465 ในช่องของ Outgoing server (SMTP)

10. คลิก OK
11. คลิก Test Account Settings ...
12. เมื่อได้รับอีเมล์ยืนยันการทดสอบ คลิก Close แล้วคลิก Next
13. คลิก Finish
